Why Africana studies
When I took the Introduction to Africana Studies course, I loved the diversity of what I was learning. It was new, exciting, and different than anything I had been taught before. I have thoroughly enjoyed the uniqueness of this major. This area of study has also changed the way I think, making me more receptive of new things and concepts.

Future Plans
I have enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh Master’s in Occupational Therapy program.

Service Learning Experience
In 2007, I traveled to Tanzania and volunteered at Bethsaida Orphanage for Girls.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was one of the pivotal leaders of the American civil rights movement.
